I have always been an observer and immigrating has slowed my eyes movement and made me look more attentive to the images that pass through us every day. When I first moved from Brazil, my home country, I took my parents camera simply aiming to share my experience abroad, but I ended up registering ordinary details that made part of my life and that were shaping how I view the world and myself. Since then, I had the privilege (and the pain) of living in many countries and I have been using the camera to interpret daily life in a poetic way, as a language. Living between new languages and cultures has shown me photography as a powerful way to express and build who I am. By seeking out ordinary moments or objects, small details and patterns that can compose metaphoric images, I intend to draw attention to the unexpected beauty of mundane themes.
